Write A Secret Message On A Chiquita Banana For A Suprise Your Kids Will Love!

Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that make kids so happy. An unexpected treat or a few extra minutes watching TV is a huge deal. Another thing I have found that kids love is finding a surprise note in their lunch boxes. And the newest note I’ve been leaving that Ethan is loving is writing a secret message on his Chiquita banana!

write_a_secret_message_on_a_bananaI know it sounds weird, but you can actually write on the skins of bananas. And when you do, the writing actually becomes dark in color so that you can visibly see it. The longer the message sits, the darker it gets.

It doesn’t take long at all and is just about impossible to mess up. All you need is a toothpick! Using the toothpick, simply press down gently on the banana skin and write your message.

The photo below shows what it looks like as soon as the message is written. The photo above that says Boo! had been sitting for about an hour or so.

secret_message_on_a_bananaGet creative! Instead of just writing your child’s name like I did, write something special the two of you share that nobody else knows about. I recently wrote all of Ethan’s sight words that he’s learned so he could “read” the note himself. Draw a picture or write the words of your child’s favorite song.

The kids love this so much…and as an added bonus…are eating even more Chiquita bananas now because of it. Ethan also has been writing his own notes and leaving them for daddy…and now daddy is eating more, too!

What creative ideas do you do in the kitchen?
