Have The Kids Make Some Noise (Literally!) By Making Their Own Noisemakers!
After reading that title, I’m sure you think I’m crazy. Kids can make noise on their own right? Why give them ways to make more noise? But this little project was so simple and easy to do that I just couldn’t pass up sharing it with you! It’s simple to have the kids make and decorate these noisemakers, and it’s something they can do with their friends (and it won’t cost you much either!)
All you need to make a bunch of these noisemakers are a few drinking straws, some rubber bands, and jumbo craft sticks. Here’s how to make them:
For each noisemaker, cut two pieces from a drinking straw into 1-1/4 inch lengths. Stretch a wide rubber band around a craft stick. Slide one of the straw pieces beneath the rubber band an inch or so away from one end of the craft stick.
Next place the other piece of straw an inch or so from the other end of the craft stick, and place another craft stick on top of the straw. Then secure the sticks with some more rubber bands.
Let the kids decorate their new noisemakers with stickers of markers and then send them outside to make some noise!
Now I will be honest…you really don’t have to worry about the noise because they don’t make that much noise at all. I think the fun part is in the making! Ethan’s worked, Lila’s didn’t and Mia’s kinda-sorta worked. I had all the supplies for the project on hand and they had a blast making them. So it was worth it in the end!
