Fruit on a Stick: Candy Coated Apples & Bananas
We were running an errand the other day and my son pointed at a fast food chain restaurant not too far from our house. ”I want to go THERE,” he exclaimed with excitement. My child has never been inside that restaurant. I’d be kind of glad if he never did go there. Frankly, we just don’t do fast food. At least not that much. I tried to point that out to him too.
“Graham, would you rather have a cheese burger or a banana-pop?” I asked. ”Banana Pop!!!” Yep, that’s what I thought. No drive thru’s for us today; I have ready-made treats for my kids in the freezer. Things like Chiquita banana pops and Candy Coated Apple Slices. It doesn’t have to be pure healthy all the time. We have fun with our food. Lots of fun.
Wanna see what I’m talking about? Prepare to get your hands a little messy. Prepare to have you and your kids licking all of that melted candy off your hands. It’s about to get real tasty up in here.
Oreo Banana Pops:
Too make these delicious treats “pop” on over to our Thrive section to see the step-by-step details.
Chocolate Caramel Apple Slices:
Forget dipping the whole apple, this method is much easier for the kids to eat!
Slice apples and remove seeds. Leave the stem for appearance sake if ya like. Cut a sliver in the base of each apple slice and invert a popsicle stick. Melt chocolate chips according to package instructions. Dip slices in chocolate and place on wax paper.

Yep, it’s messy. Love it. Drizzle with caramel and sprinkle with nuts or as I like to do, with chopped Butterfinger candies. Gotta live a little. Freeze until chocolate is hardened and serve. If you are serving from frozen, you’re gonna want to set them out for a wee bit so the apples aren’t so hard to bite into.
